HM180
Thomas Magnall

According to the 1851 census, Thomas was born about 1810 in Little Lever. The Parish register for his marriage to Sarah tells us that his father was called James Mangnall and he was a dyer. Thomas had also been previously married as the register tells us that he was a widower.

He married Sarah Walker (HM181)(b.c.1816 in Little Lever) on the 15th May 1844 at St Peter's Church in Bolton and they had the following children (note that the first two are twins)::

Thomas spent most of his life working as a carter but by the time of the birth of James he was working as an ostler.

Thomas died in 1856 and was buried at St Matthew's, Little Lever on the 12 December 1856. Sarah survived Thomas, remarrying on the 6 January 1861 to Ralph Livesey at St Peter's Church in Bolton. She died in 1895 and was buried on the 25 November 1895 at St Matthew's, Little Lever;
