Richard Magnall

Richard was born in 1855 in Birtle, Lancashire. His parents were Richard Magnall (HM028 / GM079?) and Elizabeth Bilsbury (GM020).

The 1861 Census shows Richard as a 5 year old boy living with his family at Birtle Moor.

By the time of the 1871 Census, Richard was a 15 year old Cotton Operative living with his parents in Old Birtle.

The 1881 Census shows that the family had moved to 142 Pits O'th' Moor. Richard was now 26 years old and working as a Cotton Warp Dyer.

Richard married Alice Ann Wareing in the next few years and that they had the following children:-

The 1891 Census shows that they had moved to 15 North Street in Radcliffe and Richard was still working as a Cotton Warp Dyer.

The baptisms of Alice and Mary Ann on the 26 Oct 1892 showed that the family were living in Radcliffe and that Richard was a Warp Dyer.

In the 1901 Census Richard and his family are shown to be living at 40 Wellington St, Radcliffe. Richard is now a Foreman Cotton Warp Dyer.

Richard was living at 48 Cross Lane in Radcliffe when he died in 1917 aged 61 (RoD Bury 1917 Q2 8c 654 age 61) and was buried at St Mary's, Radcliffe. His wife Alice continued to live at 48 Cross Lane until her death in 1921 and she was also buried at St Mary's.
